However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security and encourage you to contact us directly if you have concerns about a specific submission.

9. Data Breach Notification

In the event of a data breach involving your personal information, ERS will notify you in accordance with California law (Cal. Civ. Code § 1798.82) and the HIPAA Breach Notification Rule (45 CFR §§ 164.400–414):

If you submit an Apply for Support application, the information you provide — including date of birth, housing status, employment status, and healthcare program interest — may constitute Protected Health Information (PHI) under HIPAA. This information is handled in accordance with our HIPAA Notice of Privacy Practices, which describes in detail how we use, disclose, and protect your health-related information and your rights under HIPAA.

This website contains links to third-party websites including partner organizations, donation platforms (BetterWorld), and affiliated organizations.
